Business Value Index™

  • BTA’s Business Value Index™ (BVI™) is a quick, management questionnaire to help you learn more about your company's value. Simply review the questions and identify where you land on the BVI™ scale. After you have completed the seven questions, calculate your BVI™ Score to see how your business currently ranks and how you compare to other businesses.

  • Business Strategy

    The BVI™ is a review of your business in seven key areas. Please rank each of the seven areas from 1-10, using the questions in each area as a guide as you proceed through the questionnaire. The first area is your Business Strategy:

  • When providing this ranking consider the following questions:

    • Does your company have clear goals?
    • Is the business on track with your 3-5 year goals?
    • Are all customers, employees, investors and suppliers aligned with these goals?
    • Does your strategy accommodate changing market conditions?
    • Do you regularly update your business strategy?

  • When providing this ranking consider the following questions:

    • Can your team run the business in your absence?
    • Do you have a clear transition plan?
    • Are all owners and managers aligned on the business direction?
    • Are you satisfied with your management team?

  • When providing this ranking consider the following questions:

    • Is your sales and marketing strategy understood by your staff?
    • Is your brand clearly understood?
    • Are you achieving the results your business needs?
    • Are you regularly measuring sales and adjusting strategies?
    • Is enough time being spent on Sales & Marketing?
    • How well does your staff know your customers?

  • HR and Employee Accountability

  • When providing this ranking consider the following questions:

    • Do employees have clear job descriptions and accountabilities?
    • Are there regular reviews based on understood metrics?
    • Is compensation linked to KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and metrics?
    • Are you satisfied with the rate of employee turnover?

    • Are your staff roles clearly defined and understood?
    • Are staff held accountable?
    • Are your operations and processes optimized?
    • Can your business operate with minimal ownership or upper-management involvement?
    • Are your operations and processes documented and reviewed regularly?

    • Are you as profitable as you want to be?
    • Do you have the timely and usable financial reporting you require?
    • Does your company have sufficient cash flow?
    • Is cash flow trending in a positive direction?
